Biketoberfest
isn't as raucous and rowdy as Bike Week. You
have 150,000 instead of 500,000 motorcycles,
but you get the same sights and smells. And
it's easier to get around.
The four-day event is chock full of vendors,
bands, entertainment and a lively nightlife.
One of the largest attractions is the bike races
at the Daytona Speedway. At first, the races
weren't very well attended. Now, everyone is
going there. Manufacturers like Harley, Yamaha
and Indian all set up there. Everything that
happens on a bike has a vendor there.
One of the biggest draws to Daytona Beach in
October is the weather. The highs are regularly
in the 80s and the lows near 60. It's prime
riding weather. It's the last big ride for the
people up north because it's about to get too
cold for them to ride.
People from all over Canada and the United States
ride in for the event. Some even come in from
South America or fly their bikes in from overseas
to participate. |
