Starting in Los Angeles, the pack roars south on Highway 1 through
the border town of Tijuana to the beach resort
of Ensenada for a night at the world-famous
cantina, Hussong's.
Riders experience the magnificent boulder formations,
rugged hills and dense desert vegetation of the
Vizcaino Desert with its smells of sage, pinon
pine and datura, to the forest of date palms and
cool waters of the oasis of San Ignacio. The blue-green
waters of Bahia Conception, with its views of
volcanic islands and isolated beach camps; the
red-brown peaks of the Sierra de la Giganta; and
sunsets at Land's End are more beautiful than
any travel poster could ever depict.
The tour includes visits to ancient pueblos,
including Loreto, Mulege and Santa Rosalia (known
for its metal church designed by Eiffel, the
architect of the Eiffel Tower); to the artists'
and surfers' community of Todos Santos, with
a stay at Hotel California; to the whale migration
centers of the Magellana Lagoons in San Carlos
or Scammons Lagoon in Guerrero Negro; to Mexico's
famous resort cities of La Paz and Cabo San
Lucas.

/ 16 DAY ITINERARY
DAY
1FROM - TO: Arrival MILES: 5 OF INTEREST: The hotel driver will meet
the tour flight at the Los Angeles International
Airport and deliver you to the hotel for a nap
before the evening dinner party where your tour
guides will introduce themselves, the tour itinerary
and complete travel documents. Then we recommend
an early bedtime to prepare for the adventure
to come. But for those who can't sleep on their
first night in LA, you can go to the Santa Monica
Promenade, the largest street crowd in California
aside from Disneyland, for a taste of LA.
DAY 2FROM - TO: Los Angeles to
Ensenada MILES: 190 OF INTEREST: The moment has come: you are
escorted to the showroom floor. In a few minutes
you will be embarking on the vacation adventure
of a lifetime and your dream is about to become
reality. As your heart pounds, you strap on your
black leather jacket and worn boots and settle
yourself into the saddle of your chrome and steel
‘ride’, a gleaming, late-model Harley-Davidson.
Your guides will make sure your equipment is ready
for Baja and then we will start south on the Pacific
Coast Highway past famous surf breaks, seaside
restaurants, art villages, San Diego’s Mission
Bay, across the border, through the Tijuana traffic
and on to Ensenada. Then its Harleys at Hussongs,
famous for seafood dinners and for a wild party
at the world famous cantina.
DAY 3FROM - TO: Ensenada to Catavina MILES: 230 HOTEL: TBA OF INTEREST: This morning, picture yourself
as a modern cowboy roaming the open range on an
ironhorse vibrating with 1340cc’s of power and
gusto. Our destination: the desert ... the real
desert. The clear air rips past your face bringing
unfamiliar smells of the old west: sage, pinion
pine, and datura. Like an eagle you soar into
the open country, not looking back and not knowing
what lies ahead. Our road leaves the coast and
we enter the ‘real’ Baja where cirio trees and
giant cardon cacti begin appearing alongside the
road. The Vizcaino Desert is one of the most fascinating
desert regions in the world. We are greeted with
expansive views of boulder formations, rugged
hills and dense desert vegetation. For the first
time, perhaps, you really understand what it meant
to the cowboys to ride free in the wild west.
DAY 4FROM - TO: Catavina to San
Ignacio MILES: 235 OF INTEREST: We continue through this fascinating
boulder-strewn country over several 1000 meter
summits, past flat-topped volcanic cones and cactus-covered
hills into one of Baja's most charming pueblos.
San Ignacio is an authentic desert oasis located
at the bottom of a wide arroyo in a forest of
date palms and cool ponds. The thatched-roofed
dwellings and pastel-colored business structures
are clustered around an imposing stone mission
and a tree-shaded plaza. Walk the zocalo (town
square) in the evening with the local people and
feel old Mexico seeping into your bones in the
soft twilight.
DAY 5FROM - TO: San Ignacio to
Loreto MILES: 165 OF INTEREST: Ahead of us this morning is
the massive Volcan las Tres Virgines which tells
us the origin of the recent lava flows surrounding
us. Then we slow the big iron bikes down for a
descent of the Devil's Grade, seven miles of switchbacks
that take us down to the warm waters of the Sea
of Cortez. We continue this fantastic ride through
Santa Rosalia and Mulege, past the beautiful Bahia
Conception, one of the scenic delights of Baja
California with blue-green waters, volcanic islands
and isolated beach camps. Then on to our hotel
in Loreto where we will have time to explore the
oldest Spanish settlement in all of the Californias.
We’ll have time to enjoy the old town’s picturesque
central plaza, the graceful stone mission Nuestra
Senora de Loreto and take a stroll on the sea
wall and view the blue waters and rugged islands.
DAY 6FROM - TO: Loreto to La Paz MILES: 225 OF INTEREST: We pass along the base of
the red-brown Sierra de la Giganta mountains and
then climb rapidly up to the summit past hat-shaped
mountain peaks and then cross into the Santo Domingo
Valley, the major agricultural center for southern
Baja. We then cross back across the peninsula
beyond chalk-colored hills to the edge of a large
lagoon with the city of La Paz just a cluster
of white buildings on the far side. For some travelers,
La Paz is the finest city in all of Mexico. Take
a walk along the waterfront and downtown area
to see for yourself. Then enjoy the ambiance of
our fine hotel and prepare for an evening in the
big city.
DAY 7FROM - TO: La Paz to Cabo
San Lucas MILES: 135 OF INTEREST: We take our time departing
for Cabo. This city is hard to leave, but the
lure of Land's End pulls us down the winding road.
Our route takes us through of a steep-walled canyon
to the Bahia de los Palmas, famous for its excellent
sportfishing and then into the foothills of the
Sierra de la Laguna Mountains. Under the shadow
of Cerro del Venado, we roll into San Jose del
Cabo and then down the coast to the Bahia San
Lucas, a favorite hiding place for pirates who
lay in wait for Spanish treasure ships in the
16th and 17th century. Today it is the international
resort community of Cabo San Lucas and we are
here to enjoy it all. Just before arriving in
Cabo we get a view of Land’s End, the tip of the
Baja peninsula. We relax at the beach this afternoon
and, since Cabo is famous for its nightlife, we
prepare for an fabulous night on the town.
DAY 8FROM - TO: Rest MILES: 0 OF INTEREST: If you have a late flight,
we’ll start off the day with breakfast at Latitude
22 or head out early to take the day to enjoy
sportfishing for marlin, sailfish, swordfish,
tuna and wahoo on a cruiser. Or take a dive boat
for some fantastic scuba diving, seeing the sights
or sleep in and enjoy the town’s amenities including
the pool, beach, tennis, sailing, sailboarding
and horseback riding. Now it is Bon Voyage and
see you next year on one of our other famous tours!
DAY 9FROM - TO: Cabo San Lucas
to Todos Santos MILES: 70 OF INTEREST: We can begin the day early
to enjoy various activities or sleep in and enjoy
the town’s amenities. In the afternoon, the group
will cruise north up the beautiful Baja Pacific
coast to Todos Santos. Todos Santos is attracting
artists away from exclusive artist communities
in the US due to its great weather, old world
charm and beauty.
DAY 10FROM - TO: Todos Santos to
Loreto MILES: 230 OF INTEREST: We leave early this morning
to cross the broad agricultural expanse to the
Sea of Cortez and the beautiful old Mexico port
of Loreto. A great local town with many nice shops.
DAY 11FROM - TO: Loreto to Mulege MILES: 80 OF INTEREST: We wind along the beautiful
Sea of Cortez today for a short ride up to Mulege.
We will visit the the ancient mission and enjoy
a special evening on the beautiful bay.
DAY 12FROM - TO: Mulege to Guerrero
Negro MILES: 170 OF INTEREST: This morning we will breakfast
on french pastries in Santa Rosalia and visit
the metal church designed by Eiffel, architect
of the Eiffel Tower. Then we will muscle the big
iron up the switchbacks of the Devil’s Grade,
one of the most exciting pieces of road on our
way home and enjoy the mid-day heat in the cool
shady oasis of San Ignacio. Then in the afternoon
we will head across the Vizcaino Desert into Guerrero
Negro. This area is famous for producing over
20% of the world’s salt supply. It is also the
bay of choice of as many as 6000 of the 17,000
California gray whales that migrate to Baja to
mate and calve their young. In the evening from
the edge of Scammon’s Lagoon you can hear the
eerie sounds of the songs of the whales.
DAY 13FROM - TO: Guerrero Negro
to Catavina MILES: 145 OF INTEREST: By noon we are ready to cruise
on up Highway 1 through a great piece of motorcycle
road characterized by steep drop-offs, sharp curves
and narrow roadway. Flat-topped mesas dot the
horizon to the east as we roll onto the windy
Vizcaino Desert, one of the most desolate portions
of the entire peninsula, to Catavina. We have
time this evening for hikes across this beautiful
desert landscape.
DAY 14FROM - TO: Catavina to Ensenada MILES: 225 OF INTEREST: We depart across the desert
to the El Rosario on the Pacific Coast leaving
behind the cirios and cardon thickets as the terrain
changes to agricultural land. Then we crest the
ridgeline summit and enjoy spectacular views of
the Pacific Ocean and the dissected farmland ahead
of us to the northeast. We cruise across the level
farmland and then climb steep hills and pass through
grassy valleys and roll north to Ensenada. Here
we have a last chance at shopping, Mexican nightclubs
and cheap lobster dinners.

Angeles MILES: 190 OF INTEREST: We roll out of Mexico, cross
into San Diego and roll north on the freeway to
LA. By early afternoon we rumble into Los Angeles

you to the hottest scenes! A pack of Harley cruising
Sunset Strip on a Friday night is a fantasy fulfilled!

you a "Bon Voyage". See you next year!
